Report a Claim

We encourage our clients to report claims to our office, but if we are not available, we don’t want to delay your recovery. You can report the claim directly to the company – by phone or online.

Helpful information to have before you call:

  • Policy number
  • Date of the loss
  • Insured's name and address
  • Location of the loss
  • Description of the loss (e.g., fire in the kitchen, water leak ruined precious painting)
  • Police or Fire Department report - police precinct or fire department that responded
  • What caused the loss (e.g., defective toaster oven, thunderstorm)
  • Approximate dollar amount of the loss
  • Name and telephone number of person to contact to discuss the claim

What do after a loss

What to Do After a Property Loss

  • Contact Authorities: Depending on the situation, call the Police or Fire Department for immediate assistance.

  • Protect Your Property: Make temporary repairs to prevent further damage. For example, cover a damaged roof with plastic sheeting or plywood to stop water from leaking inside.

  • Notify Us: Call our office (201.226.1200), and we will reach out to the claims department to ensure your claim is processed quickly.

  • Document the Damage: Take clear photos and list all damaged items. Keep the damaged items separated and intact until they’re inspected.

  • Track Your Expenses: Keep a record of all costs related to temporary repairs and save invoices. Obtain a written estimate from a trusted contractor for permanent repairs.

Important: Do not make permanent repairs until the insurance adjuster has inspected the damage.

What to Do After an Auto Accident

  • Request Medical Assistance: If anyone is injured, call for medical help immediately. If you're unsure, call an ambulance for safety.
  • Call the Police: Always contact the police, even if the accident seems minor.
  • Move to Safety: If possible and the accident is minor with no serious injuries, move vehicles to a safe location.
  • Exchange Information: Collect the following details from the other driver:
    • Name, address, phone number
    • License plate and insurance information
    • If the driver isn’t the owner, get the owner’s name, address, and phone number
    • If possible, gather witness information.
  • Notify Us: Call our office (201.226.1200), and we'll connect with the claims department to ensure your claim is reported and processed promptly.
  • Get a Repair Estimate: If the damage is minor and the car is drivable, get an estimate for repairs. If the car isn’t drivable, have it towed to your repair shop.
